course description

The Design/Technology for Stage & Screen program teaches aspiring designers how to develop a complete creative process, from original concept to creation of the design for theater and film production. By expanding the scope of your design ideas, this program will enhance your problem-solving and visual communication skills while helping you develop necessary tools to exhibit and present your work. As the scenic, lighting, sound, costume designer and make-up designer, you will learn to read and analyze a script, think metaphorically, sketch, draft and build scale models, create a light plot, build a soundscape, swatch and render costume designs.

 

As a student in the Design/Technology for Stage & Screen program, you will:

- Analyze a script and translate ideas into visual images.

- Build and improve your knowledge of the principles, functions, and elements of scenic, lighting, sound, costume, mask and makeup design.

- Learn programs designers use, such as Lightwright, SketchUp, and Vectorworks.

- Exhibit, present, and discuss your designs.

- Create a portfolio for college interviews and applications.

舞台设计技术课程将带学生体验一个完整的创意过程，这个过程从最初的概念到剧院和电影制作的设计。课程将帮助学生扩展设计思想的范围，提高学生的解决问题和视觉沟通的技能，同时帮助学生开发必要的工具来展示和展示自己的作品。另外，学生还将了解场景、灯光、音响、服装设计和化妆设计，并学习阅读和分析剧本，进行隐喻性思考，绘制草图，起草和构建比例模型，创建灯光情节，构建音景，绘制和渲染服装。

 

在本课程中，学生将：

- 分析脚本并把内容转化为视觉图像；

- 提高对场景、灯光、声音、服装、面具和化妆设计的功能与元素的知识；

- 学习设计程序，如Lightwright、SketchUp和Vectorworks；

- 展示和讨论自己的设计；

- 为大学面试和申请准备一个完整的作品集
