course description



With a two-week schedule filled with lectures, recitations, and activities, students will walk away with a better understanding of how to design a creative and useful product from scratch and what it takes to truly be an entrepreneur.

 

During the course, Wharton Essentials of Entrepreneurship students:

- Attend lectures and presentations from notable Wharton faculty, lecturers and PhD students;

- Learn design thinking theories and practice researching, prototyping and testing skills to bring a product concept to life;

- Work in teams to design an original product prototype to be showcased to a panel of judges during our end of program Design Fair;

- Explore historic Philadelphia and experience college life on Penn’s Ivy League campus.

 

Program Leader, Taylor Caputo,  is a product designer, artist, and academic with a background in fine arts, crafts, and 3D modeling. As an alumna of the Integrated Product Design Program at Penn, she now teaches the interdisciplinary Product Design course, created her own courses The Design of Connected Objects and Experiences and Advanced Tools & Methods for Product Design. She has offered design consulting to various companies such as Away Travel, Puma, and BioMeme, and has exhibited her work internationally, notably at the 2016 Vienna Design Week and 2018 Milan Design Week.

- 探索费城历史,体验宾夕法尼亚大学常春藤联盟校园的大学生活。

 

项目负责人泰勒·卡普托(Taylor Caputo)是一名产品设计师、艺术家和学者,拥有美术、手工艺和3D建模方面的背景。宾夕法尼亚大学毕业的她,目前教授跨学科产品设计课程,并开设自己的课程-关联物品设计和产品设计的先进工具与方法。她曾为各种公司提供设计咨询服务,如远游、彪马和BioMeme,并参加国际展览展示自己的作品,尤其是2016年的维也纳设计周和2018年的米兰设计周。
